Story idea #5
For my last story, I wanted to write about First Night, the annual St. Pete New Year's Eve celebration that takes place in Midtown. I know there have been a few changes over the years, but what's going on this year? Surely, there must be some budget cuts -- because EVERYONE'S budget is getting cut no matter what it's for. Which businesses are participating this year? Is the community excited about it?

This is a good idea, but because it is a story that is looking ahead at an event that will be happening 3-4 weeks after your story would be published, it needs to be rich with details to make it interesting. You will need to work hard to make sure that your story is newsworthy this far in advance of the event.
